About Our School
An Inclusive Community
Our school is an inclusive community of children, staff, parents, governors, friends and colleagues. We all work together for the same aim: to see our children learn and grow towards a successful and happy adulthood.
A Happy School
Courtwood is a happy school, where children enjoy learning and finding out about all their many and varied talents. Once your child is at the school, they will have access to our ‘virtual school’, which is open 24/7. You can be confident when they are online here they are safe and can continue their learning beyond the school day.
Reception Class
We take children whose 5th birthday falls during the academic year (from 1st September to 31st August). Croydon local authority is responsible for the application process and your forms need to be submitted (online or paper) by the date set in January. You are most welcome to contact the school to visit, hear the Headteacher speak and tour the site. We hold Open Mornings during October and November. Please email the office to book your place – office@courtwood.org.uk
Infant Classes
Years 1 and 2 learn the Key Stage 1 curriculum. We have 30 children in each class. We use our beautiful school grounds to enrich their learning including our sports field, pond, edible playground, sensory garden and woodland.
Junior Classes
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 study the Key Stage 2 curriculum. After school we run a wide range of clubs in addition to netball and football teams. Most importantly, our philosophy underpins all our work, helping us to work with you in developing all the amazing aspects of your child.
The Treehouse
The Tree House is our Enhanced Learning Provision for 14 KS1 & KS2 pupils with autism.
The performance of children is monitored on an on-going basis and any issues identified promptly. Targeted interventions are put in place as necessary. Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator will meet regularly with parent/carers of children requiring additional support to review Individual Education Plans (IEP’s). If any children are experiencing more severe learning or emotional difficulties, the school has links with a range of external support agencies.
